Back to School Ice Skating 2016

Come one, come all to the annual back to school ice skating event.  This is a great event to invite potential new Girl Scouts to attend!  Each troop should have at least one adult in attendance (adults generally sit in the lobby and socialize).  Collectively we will then have enough leaders to meet ratio guidelines.

When: August 27
Arrival Time: 5:45
Skate Time: 6:15-8:15
Where: Ice Den,  9375 E. Bell Road
Cost: $6 (includes skate rental)

Siblings may attend as well, since this is a public skate but parents are responsible for their supervision.

If you have a Girl Scout tshirt, wear it to the skating rink!

Please drop a note to pima.neighborhood@gmail.com with a guess on attendance and also let me know if you are interested in me ordering participation patches.  Cost will be $1.

Day Camp Registration

Day Camp Registration has gone green (mostly!)

Please fill in the following registration forms online:

CAMPERS

Registrations are accepted in the order they are received and must be in by May 16.  Registrations will be accepted until camp is full (120 campers). Registrations received after camp is full will be placed on a wait list.

Your camper is considered registered after this form is filled in AND the check and health form are received.

Registration Link (to be filled in online):

Health Form Link (to be mailed):

ADULT VOLUNTEERS

To make this wonderful event possible, we need at least 12 adult volunteers each day to assist the older girl volunteers and help supervise campers.  Adults can volunteer for one or more days.  Volunteers will receive a rebate check for $10 for each day that they attend on the last day of camp.  Volunteers who work all five days will receive a $60 rebate.

**You must have current membership with Girl Scouts.**

On the days you volunteer, we need you to be present from 8:45 am to 2:15 pm.

Most adults will be asked to escort groups of campers from station to station and/or assist the older girls who will be leading the activity stations.  Some adults might be asked to stay at one station to assist older girls with the activity.

OLDER GIRL VOLUNTEERS

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED FOR VOLUNTEERS

This event will not be possible without older girl volunteers! We need at least 30 older girl volunteers to help run activities and supervise the campers. All older girls must have completed grade 6+ and must help all 5 days of camp. You'll also receive an awesome t-shirt to wear at camp!
We currently have all the volunteers we need, but we have a wait-list and anticipate using many of those girls to fill vacated slots. If we do not receive volunteer registration forms by April 1, we will start inviting girls on the wait-list to sign up.

Day Camp Information

What is Summer Day Camp?

An awesome, week-long summer day camp highlighting the decades of the 20s, 50s, 60s, 80s, and 90s.  Start planning your outfits to match the decades!

Daily activities include swaps & crafts, science, dance, music, sports, and a special mystery rotation.  Our day camp fills up fast because it's so fun, so register now!

Day Camp is planned and organized by Girl Scout Troop 2256, a Senior/Ambassador Girl Scout troop from Pima Neighborhood (part of Girl Scouts―Arizona Cactus-Pine Council, Inc.).  Camp activities are led by volunteer Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts and supervised by adult volunteers.

When?

June 20-24 (Monday-Friday), 9 am-2 pm daily.

Where?

Desert Mountain High School (12575 E.  Via Linda, Scottsdale).  All activities will take place in air-conditioned rooms.

Who Can Attend?

Day Camp is limited to 120 Campers (Daisy, Brownie, and Junior Girl Scouts registered in Pima or Indian Bend neighborhoods, who have just completed K-5 grades in May).  Our staff will be 30 older girl volunteers (grades 6+) and at least 12 adult volunteers (18+ years).

**Girls must have current membership with Girl Scouts.**

Membership is $15 and girls need not join a troop (although we are happy to assist you in finding a permanent Girl Scout home).  This fee provides girls with an insurance policy.

What is the Cost?

$100 per girl.  There will be no refunds or partial refunds for any reason.

We need adult volunteers.  To guarantee a spot for your camper, agree to help as an adult volunteer!

You can earn a rebates of up to $60 if you agree to help as an Adult Volunteer (register here:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1wpZtApvVlhL6lSii8IkuIuhu1fss84JvA3fDS9GMaIk/viewform?c=0&w=1&usp=mail_form_link)

How Do I Register?
Fill in this online form and then mail your completed permission slip/health form with a check for $100 (contact the troop for mailing address).  Both steps must be completed in order to secure a spot at camp.

Could Camp Be Cancelled?

No way!  Summer Day Camp 2016 will happen rain or shine!  The only reason camp could be cancelled is if there are not enough adult volunteers to meet minimum safety standards.  If cancelled, all campers will be notified and registration fees refunded.  You can help us out by giving us a day or two of your time!

What Does my Girl Scout Need to Bring?

Everyone should bring their own sack lunch Monday through Friday.  Everyone should also bring a bottle of water each day.  Refrigerators and microwaves are not available.

Girls need to wear closed-toe shoes and we encourage girls to dress to the decade each day! Flapper dresses on Monday, poodle skirts on Tuesday....

Drop Off, Pick Up, and Safety

We will strive to meet every Girl Scout safety recommendation.  All girls must be signed in and out by a parent/guardian each day.  If she is going home with someone else, we must receive a note from the parent.  Please pick up your camper on time.  No supervision will be provided after 2:15 pm.
