Third Annual Juliette Low Birthday Party

REGISTRATION IS DUE OCTOBER 2nd !

Pima Neighborhood is celebrating Juliette Low's Birthday at Scottsdale Ranch Park, Ramada #8 on October 28 from 2 pm to 4 pm.  Click here for a map of the park.

Cake will be served and Christopher the Magician will perform and then teach the girls simple magic tricks.  Each girl will receive a magician's goodie bag and a fun participation patch!

Because of this special event with Christopher, we MUST have RSVPs to ensure all girls receive a magician's goodie bag.

Cost is $5 per girl (no charge for leaders). Checks should be made out to Pima Neighborhood. Troops will be issued a refund of up to $4 per girl after the event for those who attend.

As always, for the safety of the girls, unregistered adults should not attend. In addition, please avoid bringing tagalongs if at all possible.

Girls need to bring water bottles to this and every event.

All troops are welcome, but activities are geared for Daisies and Brownies.  If you have an older girl troop that would like to help run the game activities, please contact us.

Juliette Low is the founder of Girl Scouts.  She was born on October 31, 1860 in Savannah, Georgia.

Please email pima.neighborhood@gmail.com for further information.

Theater Event: Sleeping Beauty

Put this event on your troop calendars now!

Tickets remaining 2/18: 0/Sold Out

Tickets remaining 2/24: 87/90 sold

"It’s Princess Aurora’s sixteenth birthday, and three fairies – Flora, Fauna and Merryweather – must use their magic to save her from the spell of the evil sorceress, Maleficent! The fairies ensure that Aurora only falls into a deep sleep that can be ended with a kiss from her betrothed, Prince Phillip. To prevent Phillip from rescuing Aurora, Maleficent kidnaps and imprisons him. The good fairies are the last hope to free Phillip so that he can awaken Aurora."

Pima is heading to the theater on February 18th and February 24th for a 2 pm showing of Sleeping Beauty at the Fountain Hills Theater: 11445 N. Saguaro Blvd. Fountain Hills, AZ 85268.

There will be a talk-back after the show with the actors, director, and stage crew.

Cost is $11 and includes a theater patch for all girls.

Please RSVP to pima.neighborhood@gmail.com and make checks out to Pima Neighborhood.

This event is open to non-Girl Scouts, including family members and friends who may be interested in joining Girl Scouts.

August Enrichment: World Association Pin

At the August leader's meeting, we discussed the meaning and symbolism behind the World Association pin. All girls and leaders can wear this pin, symbolizing their membership in the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).  If your girls do not have this pin, Thinking Day is a good time of year to talk about it and hand it out.

Blue and Gold: The blue represents the blue sky and the sun shining down on the all peoples of the world.

The Vein: A compass needle that points the way.

Trefoil: Represents the three parts of the promise that is present in all Girl Scout promises, worldwide.

Two Stars: Representing the promise and the law.

Flame: At the base, the flame represents the eternal love of humanity.

The Gold Circle: Shows that we are an growing movement; it is open at the bottom to symbolize that the circle is always open to new members.

Neighborhood Cruise to Alaska

Summer 2018 travel is planned to Alaska on the cruise ship Amsterdam, leaving and returning to Seattle (JUNE 3-10th).

Here is a pdf with some pricing information.

TROOP TRAVEL

Troops may travel; pricing for inside cabins will be around $860 per girl with four to a cabin.

FAMILY TRAVEL

Families may take advantage of this reduced-price trip and travel in their own cabins.

Prices range from $3878 for two ($4278 for four people in that same cabin) and go up or down from that price point, depending on your wishes. Family cabins include adult beverage packages (for two) and one dinner at their specialty restaurants. Verandah room reservations include a $100 pp onboard credit.

THE CATCH

There's always a catch, right?  The low prices is contingent on a special being run right now, meaning you need to book now to get these prices.

Contact Teresa tdempseyaz@cox.net to book cabins.  A deposit of $350-$700 per room must be paid now to hold the cabins and lock in the reduced rate. Final payments won't be due until March, after the cookie sale :)

DISCLAIMER

I may or may not have interpreted all of Teresa's pricing, rules etc correctly.

The important part is that we're going, but we need RSVPs now and deposits very soon to hold the rates.  If we miss the special, the overall cost goes up by $1600 per room ($400 per girl!)

More information will be posted tomorrow (August 15).
