Finance Reports Due May 31

In a effort to streamline Financial Reports this year, Council is requesting that all Financial Reports be completed on line.  To do this, you must log onto the Girl Scouts Arizona Cactus-Pines website and go to "My GS."  Once logged in, select "Volunteer Toolkit" and then "Finances."  The online form will then load to fill in.

The Financial Form (MS-23) can be found in "Forms Library."  It is not a mandatory requirement this year to complete your detailed cash summary or include your bank statement.  However, you should know all your income and expenses for this current year; random audits will occur.  Please keep copy of your MS-23 and your bank statement.  I will accept hard copies to submit should you feel more comfortable.

Troop Finance reporting is a condition of auditing and must occur yearly.  Due dates for Troop Finance Reports should be turned in at time of troop renewal.  GSACPC is requesting all reports must be submitted to them by September.

I strongly suggest that you complete your MS-23 by end of May.  It is the completion of your Girl Scout Year, and your year's accomplishments are fresh in your mind.

2019 Older Girl Bridging and Recognitions

Pima Neighborhood

Girl Recognition
Event

Wednesday, May 1, 7-8 pm
 Laguna Elementary School Cafeteria

Pima is proud to host its fifth girl recognition event. If you have girls who have earned the Bronze, Silver, or Gold Award or are seniors in high school, please invite them to this event. This is an opportunity for you to present their awards (that you have purchased) or to publicly acknowledge their accomplishments. Pima will provide flowers for Ambassador bridgers and Silver and Gold Award recipients. There will be a reception for girls and their supporting troops and families.

Girls who have earned their Gold Award should plan to bring their gold notebook and board to the event.

If you have a girls who are in eighth, tenth, or twelfth grade, they may bridge at this event.  All girls will bridge together with girls from other troops in their grade.  Please send me a list of names of girls who are bridging.

This is a formal, "uniform" event.  Please ask your girls to wear white shirts and black bottoms plus a vest or sash.

For the program, I need the following:
  • Troop #
  • Correct spelling of all girls' names
  • A list of awards.  We recognize "metal" awards earned in since the beginning of the current Girl Scout year. "Metal" awards include Presidential Service Awards, service bars and leadership torches, as well as the Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards.  If you wish to recognize other accomplishments, please check with Diana.
  • A complete record of neighborhood event volunteer service to the neighborhood by each girl
Graduating Seniors! Please to submit a headshot (in uniform).

You may also email this information to pima.neighborhood@gmail.com
Deadline for submission is April 24
Absolutely NO Exceptions
If information is not submitted by April 24, it will not be included in the program

Back-to-School Ice Skating

Come one, come all to cool off at the annual back-to-school ice skating event. This is a great event to invite potential new Girl Scouts to attend!

When: August 17
Arrival Time: 7
Skate Time: 7:30-9:30
Where: Ice Den,  9375 E. Bell Road
Cost: $5 (includes skate rental)

  • Each troop should have at least one adult in attendance (adults generally sit in the lobby and socialize).  Collectively we will then have enough leaders to meet ratio guidelines.
  • Payment is made at the window at the Ice Den. Lines can be long so come early.
  • Siblings may attend as well, since this is a public skate but parents are responsible for their supervision.
  • If you have a Girl Scout t-shirt, wear it to the skating rink!
  • Please drop a note to pima.neighborhood@gmail.com with a guess on attendance and also let me know if you are interested in me ordering participation patches.  Cost will be $1.
Patches will be available at the Ice Den.  If you are not doing troop orders for patches, please convey to your parents that they have to find Diana in order to order and pay for and get a patch!

Limited change is generally available, so it's easier if everyone brings exact change (or a check made out to Pima Neighborhood) for patches.

Pima Thinking Day Celebration 2019

Thinking Day 2019

WHAT: Each year on February 22, World Thinking Day, girls honor their sister Girl Guides and Girl Scouts by taking time to give thanks for their international friendships and remember that Girl Scouts of the USA is part of a global community—one of nearly 150 countries that are members of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).

WHEN & WHERE: February 24th, 1:30-4:30 pm
TBD

COST: $5 per girl and includes a patch and passport.  No charge for leaders. Troops will be issued a refund of up to $3 per girl who attending after the event for those who attend. Last day to register is February 4, 2019.  The neighborhood subsidizes this event.

ATTENDANCE LIMITATIONS: the space will only accommodate 150 participants.  Please bring only enough adults to meet ratio guidelines. Tagalongs cannot be accommodated at this event. As always, for the safety of the girls, no unregistered adults should attend this or any other Girl Scout event.

Slots will be filled and countries assigned on a first-come, first-paid basis and then registration will be closed.  Please submit your check made out to Pima Neighborhood with the registration form below. It is really important that you actually fill in the form.  I lose track of verbal "can I have this country?" inquiries.

DIRECTIONS: Each troop needs to pick a country and prepare (and decorate) a booth that includes information, a food, a craft, a SWAP, and a physical activity (game or song, generally) related to their country.  Girls will be issued passports to travel from booth to booth, so a stamp or sticker is needed to have to mark those passports.  Your country choice will be confirmed as soon as you turn in your registration form.

Materials (mostly SWAPS) available for the following countries: Scotland, England, Eqypt, Japan, and Brazil

TAKEN: Japan, France, Hungary, Turkey, India, Greece, England, China, Italy, Russia, Ireland, Germany
ATTENDANCE COUNT: 65
