Summer Day Camp 2022
REGISTRATION CLOSES 5/31/22
What is Summer Day Camp?
Time Traveler.
Daily activities include swaps & crafts, science, dance, music, and sports. Our day camp fills up fast because it's so fun, so register as soon as registration opens!
Day Camp is planned and organized by Girl Scout Troops 2256, a multi-level Girl Scout troop from Pima Neighborhood (part of Girl Scouts―Arizona Cactus-Pine Council, Inc.). Camp activities are led by volunteer Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts and supervised by adult volunteers.
When?
We have scheduled camp for for July 11-15 (Monday-Friday), 9 am-2 pm daily. Girls can be dropped off starting at 8:45 each day so that they camp day can start promptly at 9 am.
Where?
Girl Scout Camp will be held at Notre Dame Preparatory.
Who Can Attend?
Day Camp is limited to 100 campers who are registered in a Pima neighborhood troop (Daisy, Brownie, and Junior Girl Scouts, who have just completed K-5 grades in May). An independent girl member living in our area may also attend. Our staff will be 20 older girl volunteers (grades 8+) and at least 20 adult volunteers (18+ years).
Girls living in the Desert Mountain High School complex or who attend Pinnacle Peak, Sonoran Sky, or Grayhawk elementary schools who are not Girl Scout members may also attend but will be required to join Girl Scouts. Membership is $25 and girls need not join a troop (although we are happy to assist you in finding a permanent Girl Scout home).
What is the Cost?
$100 per girl for Pima campers who register and pay before May 1st. $150 after May 1st.
We need adult volunteers who are registered/background checked members of GSUSA. To guarantee a spot for your camper, agree to help as an adult volunteer! (Adult volunteer link is here.)
How Do I Register?
Register here.
We used to guarantee camp would happen, but the advent of COVID-19 in our world has changed all the rules. We do not anticipate a cancellation because of the pandemic but we do reserve the right to limit camp numbers or cancel in the event that we do not get enough adult volunteers to meet our safety ratios.
If cancelled, all campers will be notified and registration fees refunded. You can help us out by giving us a day or two of your time! (Adult volunteer link is here.)
What Does my Girl Scout Need to Bring?
Everyone should bring their own sack lunch Monday through Friday. Everyone should also bring a bottle of water each day. Refrigerators and microwaves are not available.
Girls need to wear closed-toe shoes and we encourage girls to according to the theme each day.
The themes for the week are as follows:
- Monday: Prehistoric Times
- Tuesday: Ancient Civilizations
- Wednesday: Renaissance
- Thursday: Revolutionary Era: the 18th and 19th centuries
- Friday: The Future
We will strive to meet every Girl Scout safety recommendation. All girls must be signed in and out by a parent/guardian each day. If she is going home with someone else, we must receive a note from the parent. Please pick up your camper on time. No supervision will be provided before 8:45 or after 2:15 pm.

Pima Neighborhood Service and Leadership Shirts
Pima has been ordering neighborhood shirts for many years. The back of the shirt is sort of a history lesson in all the activities that have been planned and hosted or enjoyed by older girl troops and groups in the neighborhood.
It changes to reflect the numbers of the current troops that have girls in grades 6-12 and are, therefore, considered what we used to call the Super Troop but we now call the service and leadership team. All girls in these grades are welcome and encouraged to participate in the many volunteer opportunities we have to run events in Pima or to choose an event of their own to host. If you are an adult volunteer, you are also automatically a part of this team.
The shirts became a "thing" one year when we watched the various troops group themselves at a cookie rally based on their troop or cookie shirts. We could visually see that the girls weren't crossing troop boundaries and we thought that designing a shirt that we could all wear to emphasize that we are all on one team. Without hard evidence, it does appear that the strategy worked; we have many girls making friends across the neighborhood!
We have a new design out in 2021 and we are devising an "on-demand" system to order shirts so it's time to let us know if you want a new shirt! Older girl troops will be receiving a survey asking how many or each size they may want and we'll be sending out a call for other people to place orders soon.
Pima's Daisy First Cookie Booth Program
Pima has a program that pairs Daisy Girl Scouts and Daisy Parents with an older troop for their first cookie booth experience. Here are the rules:
- The expectation is that girls will attend for about 15 minutes to get just a taste of what it is like.
- Last year, girls chose to stay longer, and that is up to you when you are there.
- A registered parent must attend with their Daisy.
- Girls should come in uniform (white shirt, black bottoms, vest).
- Daisies will receive a patch for attendance.
