Keep your mind nourished with Pima's summer reading challenge and earn a patch!

To earn the summer reading patch, earn points! 
Daisies: 20 points
Brownies: 35 points
Juniors: 50 points
Cadettes/Seniors/Ambassadors: 75 points

*starred items are timed for junior level and above at 20 minutes per activity to receive points. If you are a superstar Daisy or Brownie reader and you are already reading chapter books, please apply the time rule when calculating your points.

• Find a cookbook and make one of the recipes
• Illustrate a story you read
• Read a story and then retell it by acting it out
• Write a story and read it to someone
• Check out 10 books at the library (curbside pick up is available for social distancing) 
• Complete the Barnes and Noble reading journal and take it to the store for a free book. Recommended: CEO Sylvia Acevedo's book (bottom of page 1). Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program.

To earn your patch, keep track of the books you read (and time if you are junior level and above).  Turn in your activity log to pima.neighborhood@gmail.com (please send in titles of books listed in the 1-point category and please share any illustrations or stories that you create!)

The Great Pima Bake Off: Nailed It! Challenge

Girl Scouts! 

Put on your aprons and get ready to bake!

Pima is proud to offer another virtual opportunity for all Girl Scouts.  

This activity can be done at any time between now and July 31.

To participate, please submit four to ten photos to pimaneighborhood@gmail.com of your version of the camping cake pictured here.  

Photos will be shared and celebrated on the Pima Neighborhood Facebook page.

Taste is important because your family will be eating your masterpiece, but for this competition, what we are looking for is a visual match to the original design.

Participants will receive a patch.

RULES

1. The baked product needs to be your best version of a copy of the pictured cake.
2. All decorative elements should be edible.
3. A minimum of four photos taken from different angles should be submitted.  The more photos, the better. Please feel free to zoom in on details.
4. The baker must appear in at least one of the pictures with her creation.

Swap Meet

Pima is hosting a pandemic SWAPS swap.

To participate, you need to make 24 swaps and drop them off at Diana’s house by June 30th July 31st. Please fill in this form so that we know we have participants wanting to swap SWAPS.

Diana will then create packages of swaps for you to pick up, hopefully within a few days.

Day Camp 2020: The One Where they Were Quarantined

In-person day camp has been cancelled for 2020, but your day camp staff is determined to provide your Girl Scout with a once-in-a-lifetime camp experience. All your favorite counselors will be collaborating to provide programming the week of June 22-26th for girls. 

Girls in grades 6 to 12 who do not want to be on the leadership team should sign up quickly so that you can help in planning your own experience!  We have several ideas but want to hear what you want to do!  

The plan is to have all our rotations in place by June 12th.  On the table right now are plans for the following:

• Dance with Breck, Mischief, and/or Genie 
• Archery Basics with Twister
• Basic Tumbling with Twister
• Mystery events with Cucumber
• Animal Care with Twister and Sidekick
• Science experiments with Cheetah, Genie, GoGo, and Marshmallow
• Art projects with Arrow, Ponyo, and Sassafrass
• Character Story Times with Squeak
• Cooking 
• Robotics with Genie
• Songs with Peridot 
• Theater with Care Bear
• Lip Synch Contest with Care Bear
• Cupcake Wars with Graham Cracker
• And, of course, everyone's favorite: the mystery rotation led by Cucumber

Our current goal is to provide several age-leveled programs per day live via Zoom.  We will be setting up a Google Classroom to share other materials.  Stay tuned as the program develops.

To enroll your child, please fill in this form.  We are asking just a small fee for this camp ($20). Girls must be registered members of Girl Scouts.

If you sign up at this point, payment must be made via Venmo or hand-delivered to my address.

For Girls in Grades 6-12

If you want to be a camp counselor and you are already not helping in the planning, contact Diana.  If you would prefer to "attend camp" and work with Lee, please feel free to sign up as a camper.

We are tentatively planning a STEM Journey and/or some program aide training.  Girls who want to work on Silver and Gold can also sign up to get some training and get started on a project.
