Day Camp 2023

Troops 2256, 2010, 4727, and 2649 are excited to plan Pima's summer day camp.  The theme is "Once upon a Pima" and will celebrate reading and books and the stories we all love.

Our targeted dates are June 19-23rd from 9 am to 2 pm.  Girls in grades K-5 can attend day camp and girls in grades 6 to 8 can attend and earn their program aide, among other exciting activities.  Girls who have earned their program aide award can sign up to be day camp counselors. Girls need to have a Girl Scout membership to attend camp.

At this point in time, we have been unable to secure a location to hold the camp.  Notre Dame and Mountain View Presbyterian are both undergoing renovations this summer and are unable to host the camp.  Scottsdale Unified does not rent on Fridays and is indicating that they host their own camps and have limited availability.

We are reaching out at this time to see if collectively we can find a location. Again, our preferred dates are June 19-23rd.  We cannot do the camp sooner but are willing to entertain later dates as needed.

We need six classrooms and a large space for lunch and "sports."  Free is great but we can and will also pay for the space (day camp fees to be determined based on rental costs).

Schools and churches are ideal locations but we will consider any real estate.

We prefer to be in the general Pima area (Desert Mountain and Copper Ridge area), but, again, we can be flexible.

Please reach out if you have ideas to pima.neighborhood@gmail.com

Pima Robotics Team Headed to State

The Techalongs had an amazing final qualification tournament, finishing in 8th place overall and being awarded the Connect Award.

As a result, in case you haven't heard, Pima's rookie robotics team made up of girls in four different troops secured a bid to the state competition! The girls are one of 45 teams to make it to the competition and most certainly are among the youngest teams there.

The competition will be held February 24th and 25th in the field house at NAU.  If you want to make the trip to support them, plan to arrive about 9:00 am for opening ceremonies followed by qualification matches.  Two bids for Worlds are at stake and the competition will conclude around 5 pm.

To learn more about FIRST FTC robotics in Arizona, please visit their blog. A livestream of the state competition will likely be posted to that site.

If you are girl in grades 7 to 12 and want more information about joining the team, please email techalongs@gmail.com, follow them on Instagram, or visit their website.

The Tagalongs are sponsored by their troops, Pima Neighborhood Girl Scouts, and Girls in Tech.
