2026-2027 Leader/Volunteer Meeting Dates

Please mark the following dates on your calendar now for our leader meetings next year.  ANY adult volunteer is welcome to attend these meetings. 

Please alert your cookie managers about the November 3rd training dates.  We encourage everyone who will be involved in cookie management to attend.

Meetings will once again be held at the Boys and Girls Club at 10 am and 7 pm. The evening meeting will be followed by a social hour, starting at 8:15 pm, generally at Goldies. Lee and I would love it if other people would join us!

Haunted Yard

What: If you haven't visited Diana's house at Halloween, now's your chance to stop by either with your troop or as a family to see the craziness. Animatronics and various scary scenes are set up each year in our courtyard and front yard.  The display changes annually. 

When: October 30-31, dusk until about 9 pm

Where: Diana's (check email or roster for address)

Girl Scouts who visit and identify themselves to Diana will receive a Halloween patch!

Daisy troops may want to come together and earn their "Courageous and Strong" petal.

Pima Camp Jammin'- Camp Stories

From August 22-23, Pima Neighborhood presents "Camp Stories" -- The ULTIMATE "glamping" camping experience at Parson's Leadership Center at South Mountain! Get ready for a weekend of outdoor fun and exploration with friends! 

This camp is for all ages, Daisy through Ambassador! 

Younger girls may register as an individual or troop. Girls who register individually must be accompanied by an adult, who must register and pay as well. Older girls who are volunteering must register individually.

Camp Stories begins Saturday, August 22nd. Arrive between 8:30-9am.

Camp is over Sunday, August 23 at 9:30am. 

Our youngest campers may choose to attend just for Saturday.

Older girl volunteers will arrive Friday August 21 (4-6pm) for preparation and fun and stay overnight. Older girls will leave Sunday at 10:30am. 

Registration for all campers (girls and adults): $75 per person which includes all meals and a patch.

Registration for older girl counselors:  $45 per person

Late registration (space permitting): $85

Saturday only: $60

We will glamp overnight in beautiful, 10-person cabins with indoor restrooms and air conditioning.  Due to the heat, we plan many activities that are indoors, but we'll have plenty of camp fun, too!  

Troops please pay with a troop check.

First Aid/CPR opportunity

 

We have set up a First Aid / CPR class to be held on Friday, 5/29, between 11:30-1:00pm, immediately after Day Camp setup.  This will be a blended course certified by HSI and will teach infant, child, and adult CPR and first aid, including AED.  Every participant will need to watch a video course before the training -- takes around 5 hours for most people.  

This course is open to teens and adults.  The cost will be $48.75 and is being provided by Deanna from Staying Alive.

Sensory Quilts

Growing up with my mom as a school-based occupational therapist, and spending 13 years as a student in my local public school district, I’ve had a close view of the lack of monetary support and student specific resources provided for students, paras, teachers, and therapists in special education classrooms. 

After speaking with one of the middle school occupational therapists, I learned that the special education department’s mission for the 2025-2026 school was self-regulation, or equipping students with personal calming strategies.

In order to address this mission, I designed my own student-specific resource: a sensory quilt. After discussing with paraprofessionals, teachers, and therapists who work in the special education classes, I created this weighted, textured, and tactile resource that would support emotional regulation. I received initial feedback from the occupational therapy department about tailoring the quilts to student needs, such as including more fidgets (pom poms, zippers, etc.). Then, I scaled my project by collecting ‘scrap’ fabric from sewers across my region and hosting a workshop teaching other women how to sew sensory quilts.

Finally, I created a video and an online guide of how to sew sensory blankets, sharing it with other OTs and sewers to create sensory quilts for individuals within their own communities.
