“Since 1977 Sojourner Center has provided shelter and support services to tens of thousands of women and children affected by domestic violence. Through empowerment, families discover hope and have the opportunity to build new futures free from violence. As one of the nation's largest domestic violence shelters, Sojourner Center is a tireless advocate for domestic violence victims and survivors. With the continued support of the community, Sojourner Center can help women and children overcome the impact of domestic violence, one life at a time.” http://www.sojournercenter.org/go2/index.php

Troop 1265 is working on our silver award, by collaborating with the Sojourner Center.  We are painting and redecorating their phone room, computer lab, homework room, and main family room.  We will be painting the rooms to give them a warmer, friendlier feel and have received great support by Home Depot who is supplying the paint and supplies.

In addition to painting, we would like to redecorate where we can.  If anyone has area rugs, bookshelves, coffee tables and lamps, and living room chairs, we’d really appreciate those donations.  We also are collecting donations so that the children and teens can play games, catch up on learning, and have fun.  We are hoping to collect educational materials and any of the below for both boys and girls of all ages.  Thanks!

What to donate (new or almost-new):
Toys
Puzzles
Cards
Any type of game
Stuffed animals
Books

We will be collecting your donations at the next leader meeting on September 8th.
