November Service Project: Cards for Veteran

Appreciation for our veterans!

For November’s service project, the Pima Girl Scouts will make cards for veterans through Operation Gratitude.  Operation Gratitude sends over 300,000 care packages each year to veterans, and the letters included are some of the most treasured items!  We are asking each girl who participates to make at least two cards, but girls who make five or more cards will earn a patch for their efforts!

Materials Needed:  Blank cards or blank paper, pens, markers, colored pencils, stickers and other decorative materials.  Please remember NO glitter or confetti.

Instructions:  Write a positive letter (send well wishes, hopeful messages, and thank you for your service messages) to the veterans.  Please do not mention Veteran’s Day since the cards will be sent throughout the year.  Do not write about politics, violence, injury, etc.  Younger girls can draw a picture, including their first name only and age with the drawing.  For safety, girls should omit last names and personal information from cards, such as contact information, school, social media contact information, etc.  Once we have collected all the letters, they will be shipped to Operation Gratitude in one large envelope for distribution.

Zoom Card Making Party:  Sunday, November 8 at 3 pm

On Sunday, November 8 at 3 pm, Troop 4402 will lead a Zoom meeting for girls to come together to make cards.  The Zoom meeting is optional, but if girls want to share their cards and ideas, they are encouraged to join!

By December 4, please complete this form for girls who made 5+ cards so we can order patches.
